The Oakland Chemical Company H2O2

c. 1890s

Ok, so imagine it is the morning after your 21st birthday in 1893, and you wake up with a sore throat. You've now reached middle age, and your body is already giving up on you! But don't worry, the Oakland Chemical Company is here to save the day...or put you out of your misery.

The New York-based Oakland Chemical Company sold the antiseptic Dioxogen, or as we know it now, Hydrogen Peroxide. It was marketed as a safe for consumption cure-all for sore throats, toothaches, and cuts. This product was sold until the early 1900s.

What medical treatment do you think the world will look back on in 120 years and say, "wow, people really did that?!"?
