Saxlehner Bitterquell

Saxlehner Bitterquelle was a trendy mineral water brand imported from Budapest Hungry during the late 19th century into the early 20th century. Andreas Saxlehner, the company that sold the mineral water, had two offices based in America. The first office was opened in the 1870s in New York City at 130 Front St.; the second office opened on Jan 21st, 1898, in San Franciso.

In the 1800s, mineral water was marketed as a natural laxative that would help move things along. You could find Saxlehner Bitterquelle at druggists, grocery stores, and even hotels!
